Sustainability
As environmental claims flourish it is easy for people to get confused about what is meaningful. Like many companies we can’t make our products without using natural resources and this is why we are so committed to truthfulness, transparency and external independent verification.
At Finsbury Green we honestly don’t make claims we can’t substantiate. We work closely with a whole range of professionals and external auditors so that our customers can have confidence in the accuracy of our claims. In turn we publicise what we do to better inform, to be a good case study and to have a positive impact on all those we come in contact with.
Our efforts are woven into the very fabric of our corporate culture, so for us sustainability includes almost everything in the operation, from examining the way we work, reducing costs to create customer value and setting benchmarks of our own, rather than simply complying with regulations.
We have been the first in our industry on many environmental initiatives, including blending international quality and environmental management systems, low chemical manufacturing practices, low manufacturing wastes and high rates of recycling, carbon neutrality of our manufacturing operation, sustainability reporting, green procurement and industry benchmarking systems.
We try and do things differently, by making ‘green’ seem normal rather than making normal seem ‘green’.
Today, it is the primary feature of our company culture and is a distinctive point of difference from almost all of our competitors.
Sustainability reporting
Our Sustainability Report 2008, is the fifth annual publication detailing our environmental and social performance and reinforces our strong and ongoing commitment to transparency and continuous improvement.
Finsbury Green continues to offer organisations a clear method of meeting the increased demands from customers, shareholders and employees.

Social responsiblity
Policies and reports on actions are important, however, what really counts in corporate social responsibility (CSR) is putting these things into practice on the ground.
By far the most important issue relating to CSR is transforming the formal commitments we make into practice and ensuring that everyone down the line has got the message.
CSR means different things for different people. For our sales people it’s about good business ethics. For our plants it’s about health and safety. For our management its about our environmental performance and how we balance that with generating a sustainable profit.
Purchasing
Finsbury Green actively discriminates in favour of environmentally responsible suppliers and products. Our values are applied to all business practice, capital investment and new product development.
