If your file is press ready, converting it to PDF using the downloadable settings below can simplify the process, and removes the need to send fonts and images with your page layout document.

Acrobat 5 Distiller job options

Installation instructions:

Mac – copy the job options file to the folder “MacHD/Applications/Acrobat/Distiller/Settings”

PC – copy the job options file to the folder “C:/Program Files/Adobe/Acrobat/Distiller/Settings”

Then launch Acrobat Distiller and select Finsbury PDF from the job options pop-up menu.

Acrobat 6 Distiller job options

Installation instructions:

Download the job options file to your desktop. Launch Acrobat Distiller 6, then drag and drop the file “Finsbury PDF 6.joboptions” onto the Distiller window.

QuarkXpress 4 & 5 postscript settings

QuarkXpress 6 postscript settings

Follow the instructions to produce postscript from QuarkXpress, then distill to PDF using the above Acrobat Distiller job options.

Adobe InDesign 2 export PDF settings

Installation instructions:

Launch InDesign. Choose File / PDF styles then click on the Load button.
Locate the downloaded file and install.

Open document, choose File / Export, name and save the PDF, then choose Finsbury PDF from the Style pop-up menu & click OK.

Adobe InDesign CS export PDF settings

Download the PDF style to your desktop. Launch InDesign CS. From the File menu, select PDF Export Presets then choose define. From the Presets window, click on the Load button then locate the file InDesign CS PDF style.pdfs and click open. To create a PDF, go to File / Export, choose Adobe PDF, then select Finsbury PDF from the preset pop-up menu.

Adobe PageMaker postscript settings

Follow the instructions to produce postscript from PageMaker, then distill to PDF using the above Acrobat Distiller job options.

Adobe Illustrator 10 export PDF

Follow the instructions to export to PDF direct from Illustrator.

Adobe Illustrator CS export PDF

Download the PDF style to your desktop. Launch Illustrator CS. From the Edit menu, select PDF Presets. Click on the Import button then locate the file Finsbury ILL CS PDF and click open. Click ok to close the PDF preset dialog. To create a PDF, go to File / Save as, choose Adobe PDF, then in the next window select Finsbury PDF from the preset pop-up menu.

Macromedia 8, 9 & 10 Freehand postscript settings

Follow the instructions to produce postscript from FreeHand, then distill to PDF using the above Acrobat Distiller job options.

NOTE: Please do not use the Export command to produce PDFs direct from FreeHand as this does not produce an acceptable result for reproduction.

ALL OTHER APPLICATIONS

Please ensure that your document includes crop marks, 3mm bleed, embedded fonts and high resolution images (CMYK, greyscale or duotone, not RGB).
